Classes and Workshops

What are the possibilities at Key Town Swing?

At Key Town Swing we offer weekly classes and workshops in a variety of different Vintage Swing dance styles. Our main focus has always been Lindy Hop, with Charleston and Authentic Jazz (or Solo Jazz) added in weekly classes, and Collegiate Shag. Other dance styles like Blues and Boogie Woogie are offered from time to time as well.

Unless otherwise specified, all our weekly classes take place at our studio in the monumental Leidse Volkshuis, located at Apothekersdijk 33.

If you want to seriously work on your technique one-on-one, or want help in creating your wedding dance, you might want to consider taking private classes with us. It is also possible to book us to teach a company workshop or group class, for instance for your bachelor(ette) party!

We will start a new beginner course Lindy Hop on 10 September!

There will be three levels of Lindy Hop, one level of Collegiate Shag and some classes around Tap and Solo Jazz. Check out the schedule below.

If you're interested in other Swing dance styles or levels that are not mentioned below, please contact us. We'll consider (re)starting these courses if there's enough interest.

All class dates are continuous, without any breaks or holidays.

Monday
Routines class: 7 September - 2 November, 19:00-20:30 (9 weeks)
Solo Jazz - Tranky Doo: 7-9, 14-9, 21-9
Lindy Hop: 28-9, 5-10, 12-10
Tap & Body Percussion: 19-10, 26-10, 2-11

Tuesday
Lindy Hop level 2: 1 September - 3 November, 19:00-20:00 (10 weeks)
Solo Jazz & Tap: 1 September - 3 November, 20:15-21:15 (10 or 5 weeks)
Solo Jazz: 1-9, 15-9, 29-9, 13-10, 27-10
Tap: 8-9, 22-9, 6-10, 20-10, 3-11

Wednesday
Collegiate Shag level 1.5: 2 September - 4 November, 19:00-20:00 (10 weeks)
Lindy Hop level 3: 2 September - 4 November, 20:15-21:15 (10 weeks)

Thursday
Lindy Hop level 1: 10 September - 3 December, 19:30-20:30 (13 weeks)

Class Fees & Discounts
Lindy Hop and Shag beginner courses are €12,50 per hour.
The Routines classes (90 min) are €15 per class, or €10 per hour.
All other courses €14 per hour.

Classes are paid per full course, not per class.
Signing up with a partner and/or with no role preference* gives you a 10% discount.
Signing up for extra courses in the same block gives you a 25% discount on those courses.
Students can apply for a 20% discount.
*) Our 'no role preference' discount does not apply to our level 1 (beginner) course.
